In groups of 2 - 4, plan and produce two minutes of a music video in the genre of your choice.
- The target audience must be a sophisticated audience between the ages of 16 and 25.
- The music video must feature representations that cover at least two different social groups.
- Your research must identify at least 5 generic conventions
- Your music video must use all 5 (or more) of those conventions
Decide which social groups you intend to include in your music video (this will be subject to availability).
Consider the stereotypes surrounding those social groups and the relationships between them.
Decide whether you wish to present a hegemonic representation (reinforcing the stereotypes) of the social groups or a pluralistic one (presenting countertypical representations).
Present this as a mission statement on your blog.
Task 2:
Choose a genre of music that will allow you to fulfill your brief and then decide on five or more music videos that you feel are typical of the genre.
Post links to those five videos (or more) on your blog.
Based on those five (or more) videos, compile a list of generic conventions that you wish to include in your own production.
Task 3:
Write a shooting script/storyboard for your video.
Make annotations in your script/storyboard that link to your ideas about representation.
Task 4:
Shoot the video
Task 5:
Edit the video
Finally:
Post the video to your blog. You will need to work out how to host it. Consider the difficulty of copyright.
Storyboard:
ReplyDelete1 - You really need to scan in your storyboard. I believe there are apps available that make your camera into a decent scanner, but all of the printers in school can also be used to scan. This will really help with presentation.
2 - Return to your research (ideally create a new post to present the research). Will 19 shots be enough to fulfill the task? That is a genuine question.
3 - You almost certainly need to create some sort of shooting script to allow you to clarify what is needed for your production. Remember that the objective should be that you can hand over the script to someone else and they can make the video for you. I don't think that I would be able to do that with your current script.
